Vaginoplasty
Reconstruction of the vagina after childbirth must include the removal of deep scars caused by episiotomy, joining of the damaged pelvic floor muscles and reconstruction of the entire vaginal wall with aesthetic correction of the external opening of the vagina and labia minora (labioplasty). It is important to have a natural functional and not just an aesthetic result of reconstructive surgery. Cystocele or rectocele reconstruction is usually performed at the same time.
Surgical vaginal tightening involves restoring the vagina to its former dimensions, meaning narrowing, tightening, and rejuvenating it.
Vaginoplasty is one of the methods available in urogenital surgery that not only restores the normal shape but also the erogenous sensation of the vagina. By removing existing scars from poorly healed episiotomies, reconnecting stretched muscles, and tightening weakened ligaments, the most sensitive region is functionally and aesthetically returned to its natural state.
Vaginoplasty, when performed simultaneously with the reconstruction of the pelvic floor muscles (levator ani), is also the method of choice for cases of prolapse of the bladder, uterus, or rectum. These conditions are called cystocele and rectocele, and their reconstruction surgeries are referred to as anterior and posterior colposuspension or colporrhaphy.
Vaginoplasty is usually not considered for women who plan to give birth again.
For optimal assessment of the issue and to achieve the best results, it is necessary to wait for a period of six months after childbirth.
The procedure is mainly performed under general anesthesia but can also be done under regional anaesthesia.
The procedure itself lasts about 60 to 90 minutes.
Discharge from the hospital is the day after the surgery.
Routine follow-up checks are scheduled for 2 to 3 days post-op.
You can expect to return to work 10 to 14 days after the procedure, depending on the nature of your work. Active physical exercise can be resumed 6 to 8 weeks after surgery. The sutures used are self-dissolving, so there is no need for their removal. Touch, sexual sensitivity, and orgasmic sensation return to normal 8 to 10 weeks after a properly performed surgery. After the full healing period, which is typically around three months post-op, you won’t even notice you had the procedure.
Everyone deserves to feel attractive and desirable. It’s important to seek a surgeon who not only understands and empathizes with your condition and needs but also possesses the knowledge and skill to fulfill your desires.
Every woman experiencing functional issues down there after childbirth should do everything she can to correct them. Women love to feel beautiful when undressed, and the task of a genital surgeon is to restore that lost feeling.
